What are “Tells”? Your Body Knows

with No Comments

“Tells” refers to using your felt senses, physical and inner, to discern.

Most of us do this but have limited awareness of it how important it is. Tells are necessary for all intuition and well-being. Our bodies are highly accurate receivers and sensors. Your body knows.

Let your body “tell” you. We’ll cover two of the many ways you can tune into what your body is saying to help you:

  • Make decisions
  • Assess a situation
  • Assess a relationship
  • Have awareness of what you truly want
  • Sense safety or danger

Exercise 1:

Ask yourself a question to which you know the answer is a definite yes. Answer your question as “yes”. For example, I ask myself, “Is my name is Marya?” I answer the question, “Yes.”

Now notice. What did you feel?  Where did you feel it? What did you sense? What impressions did you have? Did you have a knowing? Did you notice any colors? Vibrations? Temperature changes? For example, I feel a calm feeling in my abdomen and I feel open and connected.

Once again, ask yourself a new question to which the answer is a definite yes.

Again notice. What did you feel?  Where did you feel it? What did you sense? What impressions did you have? Did you have a knowing? Did you notice any colors? Vibrations? Temperature changes?

What you notice when asking a question to which the definite answer is yes, is your “yes” tell.

Now, ask yourself a question to which you know the answer is a definite no. Ask yourself and then answer the question, “no”.

Notice. What did you feel?  Where did you feel it? What did you sense? What impressions did you have? Did you have a knowing? Did you notice any colors? Vibrations? Temperature changes?

Once again, ask yourself a new question to which the answer is a definite no.

Again notice. What did you feel?  Where did you feel it? What did you sense? What impressions did you have? Did you have a knowing? Did you notice any colors? Vibrations? Temperature changes?

For example, I ask myself, “Am I a professional truck driver?”.  I answer, no. I feel constricted, slightly nauseous, and isolated.

What you notice when asking a question to which the definite answer is no, is your “no” tell.

Repeat this process telling yourself a statement that you know to be true. For example, “I love my dog”. Notice as discussed above. This will be your “truth” tell.

Now tell yourself a lie. Notice as discussed above. This will be your “lie” tell. For example, “I am currently 6’ 1” tall”. I see a dull gray color and I feel constricted and it is as if a wall comes up in front of me.

You can have fun experimenting by asking questions that are more emotionally charged, such as, “Do I love my dog?” “Do I love to spend my free time going to a boring events?” You can make true statements that are moving to you. You can tell lies that are upsetting. Then notice. You may have stronger but the same sensations that you had to the less triggering questions or statements…or your tells might be somewhat different than they were with the less charged questions and statements. For example pressure on the forehead, an unpleasant tingling of the face, etc.

Exercise 2

The second example of finding your tells is by using your imagination to feel how a possible choice would be for you. For example, you imagine yourself in two different jobs that you have been offered.

How did you feel?  What did you sense? What impressions did you have? Did you like being in one, both, or neither of the positions?

Use your body to tell you. It is a reliable compass that guides us as spirit in the physical realm.

Take care and may your Divine Spirit guide you today and always.
